~ Tessa Smith
Background
Pursuing my healthy obsession with language, I took a deeper look at the concept of literacy practices at the City College of New York where I clutched a Masters degree in English Language and Literacy Studies in 2014 while working full-time as a paralegal. Digging into the language of contracts and legal documents added an analytical dimension to my communications toolkit.
Before that, I studied print and new media journalism in undergrad at Howard University in Washington DC.
I’ve written and performed spoken word, worked as an assistant editor for an academic e-journal and taught reading and writing skills to adults at the New York Public Library as a literacy instructor. I’ve also written for various online publications.
You can catch me enjoying international movies on Netflix or designing narratives on my blog in my spare time.
I’d love to pool all of these experiences to help you say what you want to say in a more intentional and captivating way.
Tessa Smith is a very organized, punctual and detailed writer. Having her write for my online publication was a pleasant experience. -Dondre Green, Photographer & Founder of Bronx Narratives
